Stronger Together: "Place Matters" at the Community Baby Shower 2025

The Clatsop County community came together on May 30th for our annual "Place Matters" gathering, and it was a resounding success! This year, we focused on our most precious residents: birthing families and their newborns. Held at the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation center in Seaside, the event served as a "pre-event" to the Community Baby Shower. Over 55 Community partners, gathered and made connections to bridge gaps in our local perinatal health care system.

The goal of this year’s "Place Matters" was to improve the health of parents and babies by strengthening the knowledge and connections of the people who serve them.

Attendees enjoyed a casual networking session with snacks before diving into the core of the afternoon. Partners walked through the Community Baby Shower stations, where they were introduced to community partners, received education on key perinatal health topics, and learned about the direct connection between where people live and their health outcomes.

As Place Matters wrapped up, the doors opened for local families to arrive for the Community Baby Shower—carrying the momentum of a newly strengthened support network directly to the people who need it most. This event wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated partnership between CHART, the Perinatal Task Force, Build Your Nest, and Clatsop County Public Health.
